In preparation for answering the questions, review the Washington Township Fire Department web site.
I would definitely recommend adding wireless network technology. Technology is heading toward wireless capabilities, and it would make sense for WTFD to implement this strategy, which would make the data synchronization instantaneous.
Cost, operational complexity and service interruptions speak agains use of wireless.
Potential legal issues would include misinformation, failure to comply with industry standards, unintentional release of private or personal information to other persons, and the fact that the systems can be more easily hacked.
Paper forms are much more easily destroyed and damaged. Using an electronic form will be more efficient in terms of time and cost.
To the patient, the benefits are accurate reports of their conditions, maintenance of their histories, and instant listings of the treatments and medicines administered.
To the hospital, the benefits are in the ease of gathering, reading, and translating the patient information. There would be no more inaccurate or illegible information.
To the employees, the benefits would be in the ease of providing accurate information, decreased time spent recording information, and increased accuracy in the work records, preventing costly and even deadly mistakes
The WTFD will experience increased benefits because they will be able to provide better service to customers (patients) and will have more satisfied employees—both in terms of the employees who work for the FD, and the employees at the hospitals. There will be uniformity of information, which will immediately translate into better service for patients.
